WORLD PAELLA DAY IN VALENCIA, SPAIN
To celebrate Spanish culture and culinary excellence, the city of Valencia in Spain will be celebrating World Paella Day. On this day, the city will be encouraging cooks from around the world to try their hand at creating paella, the iconic Spanish rice dish paella and local specialty.

On September 20, the people of Valencia, who normally guard the traditional recipe zealously, will share their secrets for making a great paella. They aim to celebrate the dish around the world and establish it as an international symbol of their city.
Over the years, different recipes have evoked controversy on an international scale. The British chef Jamie Oliver used chorizo in his recipe while the actor Rob Schneider followed a baked recipe cooked in a glass dish. Meanwhile chef Gordon Ramsey made his using rice, chicken, squid, chorizo ​​and clams.
On this day, these differences will be put aside and cooks and cooking afficionados from around the world will be encouraged to try their hand at creating the real paella. They will reveal the traditional recipe that famously unites family and friends in Spain and around the world.
ACTIVITIES FOR WORLD PAELLA DAY
This international event will include a series of activities throughout September 2018 including the International Contest of Sueca on September 16.
